My Story

This beauty is nut-Tasha, but we call just call her Tasha. Our dog-scanner app indicates that she is a Lapponian Herder/Greenland Dog mix, which are so rare that these breeds aren't listed as available breeds in Petfinder! Both breeds are recognized by the United Kennel Club. Nut-Tasha is young and silly, so she can be a little nutty! Found as a very young stray, we have heard that she was left at her former home when the residents moved away. It's difficult to believe that someone would leave a defenseless puppy outside to fend for herself in December -- but apparently, someone did. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms and tick-borne diseases. She is house-trained and crate trained (up to 4 hours), Tasha is a VERY intelligent, very active girl. She loves toys and loves snuggling -- on her terms. To her, there is nothing more exciting than running in a fenced area, playing with all 7 of her foster siblings at one time, learning new doggie games from them. She is a HIGH ENERGY pup, and will be a HIGH ENERGY dog, requiring vigorous daily exercise and on-going mind challenging games. In terms of intelligence and desire to please... she mastered going up and down steep indoor steps in one day, learned "in" and "out" the doggie door in her foster home the same day. It only took a day an a half for her to respond to her new name, and she completely mastered potty training in 3 days. She will be a great dog for many dog sports including agility, and would respond well to training for anything and everything. She is very inquisitive and loves learning new things. Nut-Tasha needs at least one fairly large companion dog, as she can run faster than any human and LOVES playing tag and romping a canine playmate. She plays a bit rough, so we don't recommend smaller or senior dogs as a companion. While we've not tested her with children or cats, we believe she would do well with children over age 8, but because she has a strong prey drive, we would not approve her to go to a home with cats -- for the safety of the cats. Please research this breed BEFORE applying! HERDING BREED EXPERIENCE AND A SECURELY FENCE ARE REQUIRED.
