Niko

Niko was found without a collar on the streets in La Loche. Her current foster home found her by the school roaming loose and took her home. They made attempts at finding Niko's home as well as a new home once a previous owner couldn't be located but have had no luck. They cannot keep her so have asked MLDHS to try to re-home her. She is currently still in the foster home in La Loche but we expect her to be brought to Meadow Lake sometime late January 2010. Comments below are from the foster parents: "Niko is a high energy dog and we can't provide her with time she needs. We believe Niko was initially owned by someone who kept her inside as she is fully house trained. Niko was introduced to a crate last month and has no issue being inside one and will even wonder in the crate to sleep at night. She is awesome in a car and does not make any noise. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and rabies shots. We live with a cat and Niko likes to chase the cat but does not show any real signs of aggression towards him. The only thing Niko needs further training on is her manners and she will jump when excited. " She is a beautiful blue eyed female husky / samoyed mix. She is 8 months old, has a sweet temperament, enjoys the company of people and other dogs. She is fairly high energy and a decent sized yard to run around in is ideal. She enjoys her toys and bones and is also crate trained, although she needs a little work with her manners as she has a tendency to jump up if excited. With a little extra guidance and training, Niko would make someone a great partner.
