My Story

Update 10/24/08: Nicolette arrived in Maine a few days ago and she's the cutest little 15 pound bundle of fun her foster family has ever seen! And they see lots of dogs.

This little lady has it all. She has a gorgeous red coat, with a white patch on her chest, expressive ears and soulful eyes. Nicolette is also very smart and playful. True to her terrier breeding, she's small in stature and big in personality.

Nicolette bonded instantly with her foster family's dogs. She loves to run and play but quickly abandons chase games when called. She loves all sorts of petting, human affection and sweet talk. She adores both the children and adults in her foster family, and would make a terrific family pet. She had no problems with being bathed and groomed. She is being crate trained and is taking to it very well. In fact, in less than a week, she has learned the request "kennel" and marches right into her crate for her dinner! She's also learning "come" and "sit." Like any puppy, Nicolette would benefit from continued obedience training.

Nicolette is a very well behaved puppy. She's curious but easily corrected if her interest heads in the wrong direction. She's a sensitive sort of pup, and gentle but firm corrections work best for her.

Her foster family does not have cats, so they are unsure how she would be around felines. As far as we know, she has never met one.

Nicolette will make some lucky family a wonderful pet!

Notes from our partner shelter: Nico and Nicolette are about 6 mos old, brother and sister and were turned into an Arkansas shelter together because the home no longer wanted the responsibility of the puppies.

According to the home, they get along well w/other dogs and kids, we do not know about cats yet. They could be housetrained, but the family that surrendered them did not say.

Brother and sister are being fostered separately and do not need to be adopted together.

Nicolette is a petite little thing and about 10 lbs, probably won't grow to more than 15-20. Very sweet and loving!!
