Nico

Nico is a sweet boy who likes to be pet and being carried. His foster Mom says “he is a total baby” ! He enjoys sun bathing and LOVES treats! He is smart and learns new things quickly. Nico is a loyal friend who will follow you around. He is very sweet to his person and those he is familiar with. Nico will ask for belly rubs and to be carried in your arms like a toddler. Nico loves car rides and going for walks. He does well in the car even on long drives. Nico is house trained and crate trained. He has good leash manners and like to meet new people and dogs on his walks. He knows “outside”, “come here” and “sit”. He lies quietly throughout most of the day unless he alerts of people at the front door or the gate, but quiets down immediately with correction. Nico does not like going to a groomer but will let his foster Mom bath him and trim his hair (blow dryer seems to scare him). He welcomes attention, being pet and will let you know if the timing is not right. Nico is medium energy level and enjoys long leisurely walks. He took a long to adjust /trust in his foster home, but with slow introductions and kind gestures he is fine. The rewards are so worth the wait!! The energy kids have tend to make him nervous so would do best in a calm, quiet adult only home. He would also do well in a home with another calm-older dog (medium/small) to learn from. Nico is looking for an active family who will give him the time and patience to feel safe and secure. He is doing very well in a foster home where the human demonstrates leadership in the pack; this is something that will be important for his adopters to continue. Nico’s adopter will have access to a trainer who will be available to help ensure Nico has a successful transition into his forever home and family. Nico is in Los Angeles. He is ~8 years old, 11 lbs and does not shed. Nico is healthy, neutered, current on all vaccinations and micro-chipped. He had a dental in Jan 2024.
