My Story

"There is the little matter of disposal of droppings in which the cat is far ahead of it's rivals. The dog is somehow thrilled by what he or any of this friends have produced, hates to leave it, adores smelling it, and sometimes eats it . . . The cat covers it up if he can. . ." -- Paul Gallico

Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada is the only province to have provided the names of TWO dogs. The Newfoundland is a large, usually black, breed of dog originally used as a working dog in Newfoundland. They are known for their sweet dispositions, loyalty, and natural water rescue tendencies. Our Newfie here at the shelter has thick, somewhat wavy hair much like that of a Newfoundland. He is probably a lab mix, but maybe there is some Newfoundland interspersed. Newfie came to the shelter after being hit by a car in March of 2007 at the age of approximately one year. Newfie is a friendly, adventurous, attractive fella who is looking for a home to call his own.
