My Story

Nerina is a sweet sea monster, wanting to gobble up your heart. With a guesstimated birthday in April 2021, Nerina weighs about 50 lb and is fully grown. Nerina likes other dogs but is suspicious of strangers. She is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. She's leash-savvy and comfy in a 42" crate to give her room to sprawl. Due to the way she lays, she rubs some spots on her tail. They aren't bare, but the hair looks different. Nerina is very athletic. She loves to run in the yard with her doggy friends and play in water. She can jump on the counter, when motivated, so her foster mom keeps a can of SSCAT - a motion-detecting air sprayer - turned on when Nerina's loose in the kitchen. Her foster buddies egg her on so she'll get in trouble! ********** Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed. For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, and deworming if recommended by our vet. Adult dogs will also have current heartworm test. For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine. A vet reference is required only if you are adopting an intact dog over 6 months of age (or the age our attending veterinarian recommends for spay/neuter) to ensure future altering of the dog. A refundable spay/neuter deposit is required for intact dogs/puppies. Open Adoption Events for Foster Dogs are held on most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open Adoption Events for Bunch Anderson Shelter Dogs are held every Saturday from noon-4:00 p.m. Please check our FB page for changes in Adoption Event Schedules. A scheduled Meet & Greet between Adoption Events may be possible by sending an e-mail to: [email protected]. We do not hold dogs. Fees are required in cash at Tractor Supply. We are an all-volunteer, foster-based no-kill shelter & rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. For more information on our organization, visit our website at FoothillsCanineRescue.org.
