Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list. *You can check the status of his adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted. *We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt Nash before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. *AGE: 3 years old (born July 2021) *WEIGHT: 55 lbs. *FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are recommended but more important is that he be walked daily. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed. *COAT TYPE: Nash has a wavy, gorgeous, light shedding coat that is a mix of curly and straighter hair. His new family should be prepared to brush his coat regularly and have him groomed every 8 weeks or so with an approximate cost of $100/groom. He was shaved down on intake due to severe matting. See his before pictures in his listing photos. *ENERGY LEVEL: medium to high energy level; he does very well with a long walk or 2 each day. *DOGS: Good with dogs; he loves to play; he can get a little rough when playing and he gets excited. He was an only dog in his first home and we think he would be fine as an only dog as he is more focused on attention from his people. *CATS: He will chase cats - would not recommend he be placed in a home with a timid or anxious cat. Bold cats would be fine. He doesn't try to hurt them but is interested. *KIDS: He is very friendly with everyone but he is jumpy and mouthy (in an overly playful way) so as of now we think kids aged 16+ is best for his success in his new home. His foster family has young kids and he is fine with them but the jumping and mouthing needs working on. *CAR: Great! He rides beautifully in a crate in the car and doesn’t make a peep. *CRATE: He is crated at bedtime and does fine. He is still learning that being in the crate during the day for a few hours is OK. *HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! *LEASH: He walks very well on leash and loves walks. 2-4 miles of walking will wear him out for the night. *HOW IS HE AT THE VET: He struggles being handled but was able to be vetted without a muzzle with calm slow approaches. *HOW IS HE WITH GROOMING: His foster is working with getting him acclimated to being groomed. He was very matted/pelted when he went to the groomer and he was fearful and didn't like his feet touched likely because they were so matted; he had to be muzzled to finish his feet. He needs consistent work at home with handling feet and a groomer who is willing to go slow and work through his anxiety; he may benefit from some anti-anxiety medication prior to being groomed. We think this will likely improve with continued exposure to grooming and handling. Nash is a precious 3 year old male 55 lb. Goldendoodle lovebug who was surrendered to IDOG by his family who loved him very much; they moved in to a travel trailer and wanted Nash to have more space to run and to be with a family who had more time to exercise him and work with him on training. Nash LOVES to snuggle and is very very affectionate. He will nudge your hand to be petted and loves attention. He is VERY smart and will thrive in a home with owners who want to teach him 'tricks'; it took him two minutes to learn to catch a treat (see video). He is very engaged with training and the sky is the limit with him as far as learning. He is food-motivated which is great for working with him! He knows 'sit' and 'come' and is working on 'wait' and holding 'down' a little longer. This Dood is smart! Adjectives that describe Nash: *Loving *Sweet *Snuggly *Eager to please *Food motivated *Playful *Submissive *Affectionate *People-pleaser *Smart *Amenable *Happy Activities that Nash enjoys: *Walking *Cuddling *Playing with other dogs *Learning new tricks We feel the ideal type of owner/home for Nash’s success is: An adult home with an owner(s) who wants to take a walk every day and work on basic obedience. He's eager to please and very friendly; he just isn't very confident yet. He get easily get over aroused and that leads to jumping and mouthing but with consistent boundaries he's already improving a lot. Walking is much better for him than a yard - consistent movement with focus helps his energy more than running in a yard. I'd actually be more inclined to a home that truly wanted to take him for a walk than a home with a fenced yard as the walking seems better for him mental health. Items that we are working through with Nash and that will need to be continued when he transitions to his new home: -handling him so he can become less nervous for grooming/brushing/vet -jumping and mouthing when he gets over-stimulated; he is already improving in the short time he has been with his foster family Nash is neutered, house trained, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative. ADOPTION FEE: $450 ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION: Our adoption fees are non-refundable. Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
