My Story

11/18/06: Colin "Murphy" was on his way to a home in Connecticut when at the last minute, his adoptive family changed their mind. In order to spare Colin "Murphy" the 1600 mile journey back to his originating shelter in Tennessee, Almost Home Rescue placed him into foster care in Maine. His formal name is Colin Murphy, but he answers to "Murphy" Almost Home Rescue will be handling his adoption for his former rescue. Please visit www.almosthomerescue.net for more information. If you would like to be considered for Colin "Murphy", please complete and email an application.

From his TN Rescue: "Colin Murphy is a 10 month old labby/pyr who was turned in to a shelter because he is large. Yes, he is large and getting bigger. He is likely to top out in the 90 pound range. Colin is a big, loveable, oaf of a dog. He loves people, he loves to play, he loves other dogs. Every morning Colin wakes up and thinks it's the best day ever. Colin rides well in a car, pulls a bit on the leash and has generally good manners. He is a little rambunctious (he is a puppy) so homes with small children should have sturdy small children. He is not a dominant dog, but he is not a wallflower either. If you like the lab and Great Pyr temperaments, this boy has both in equal measure. He is more laid back than a lab but he is less reserved than a Great Pyr"

Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net and can be e-mailed to Lonepine_AHR@yahoo for this particular dog.

These animals are in dire need of homes. If you cannot provide a home, sponsors are welcome and needed for heartworm treatment and/or other medical expenses for dogs coming to New England. Foster families are also needed from time to time. Fostering a healthy dog or one that is in treatment will also save lives!

We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $250.00 for altered dogs. $350. for unaltered puppies, with $100 refundable after spay/neuter. All Senior dogs 6 years or older have a reduced adoption fee of $200. (includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and transport from AR) For more information, please visit our webpage at www.almosthomerescue.net
