My Story

Melissa, Miriam and Murphy were picked up in a field near Bakersfield, by animal control. There was no mom or other siblings to be found (the officer checked to make sure). These puppies were covered in ticks and fleas. Murphy was in the worst shape. The shelter manager begged us to save them since they were going to be put to sleep. We bailed them out and then spent hours removing ticks, fleas and giving them all a much needed bath. Somehow, these pups are the nicest, most socialized and friendly that we've ever met. In talking witht he shelter manager, the only thing we can think of that made them so friendly (and the fact that they weren't starved to death) is that there must have been farmers in the field feeding them scraps. They all love people and other dogs. They are on their road to recovery as the scabs are all healing and the fur is growing back on Murphy's ears. We adore these pups! Murphy is 6 months old and weighs 25 lbs. Potential adopters must be aware of the time and care needed to raise a puppy. We do not place pups under 6 months of age in homes with children under 6 years of age. If you would like to give Murphy a loving home, please go to: www.muttsandmoms.org and read 'how to adopt'. You will find our online application. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail. We are an all-volunteer rescue organization and do not have time to return phone call inquiries. Thank you.
