My Story

Have you ever seen a cuter dog? Well, if you have, don’t tell me ‘cause I think I’m just the cutest there is. I’m Muppet, and I’m probably a middle aged male Lhasa Apso mix, judging by my handsome appearance. Somebody did “own” me once, but can you believe they dumped me outside at the shelter on a sweltering hot day, leaving me locked inside my crate without even calling anyone to let them know I was there??? It’s a wonder I didn’t die! Who would do such a thing to me? When the wonderful shelter volunteers found me my eyes were a mess and my ears were too. But I try not to hold my previous life against anybody, though I do have moments where I’m probably remembering how awful it was, and I get scared. So if I seem to be timid, or maybe act tough, it’s because of my past, and after all, everybody can’t be perfect all the time. I love to have my belly rubbed, and I enjoy being brushed. I still have some bad skin on my chest that needs attention; but it’s getting better everyday. I’m currently sharing my kennel with another small dog, so I seem to be dog friendly. Since I can be timid at times I’d do best in an older household, with no young children. I’d like a nice lap to lie on and a permanent home, where I won’t be thrown away ever again. I’ve been neutered, microchipped and had all my shots- I’m ready to go now! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an adoption application. This avoids the disappointment of someone else has "beating you to it" because they were pre-approved. Processing an application does not take us very long but we do insist that all potential adopters are approved before placing a dog. Applying is very simple. Just log on to our website at Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue and select Adopt a Dog from the menu on the left side of the homepage. Just above the photo gallery you will see Adoption Application giving you a choice of 2 formats. Select one of these and complete the information requested, then save it as a file and e mail it to us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours of sending your application, please call us at 716/326-PAWS. And be sure to check out all the dogs and puppies eagerly awaiting homes.
