ADOPTED! - Moriah represents an interesting combination of breeds. Some people say she looks part Greyhound while others think she is part Pointer or Lab or maybe Boxer or even Great Dane. Nobody knows for sure, but it doesn't really matter what her "pedigree" is. Whatever she is, she is special and unique! Moriah was a stray who ended up--with her nursing puppies--at a shelter in Ohio. While her cute pups were eventually adopted out, no one wanted Moriah because people who came through the facility thought she was "ugly". She waited patiently for over a month, hoping someone would adopt her. Sadly, eventually the shelter decided they would have to put Moriah to sleep to make room for the new dogs coming in.... That's when we learned about Moriah, and--from the moment we first saw her--we fell in love with her, and we know you will too. (Our rescue group ordinarily doesn't take in larger dogs, but once in a while we make an exception when we find an extra special dog like Moriah.) Since she's been in our rescue program, everyone who has met Moriah has been impressed by her beauty both inside and out. Moriah is an extremely kind-hearted, sweet dog who loves to run and play, but she is also happy being a part-time couch potato. Our best guess is that Moriah is about two or three years old. She is gentle and friendly with other dogs and cats and she is even housebroken. Her ideal weight is about 50 lbs., but she was quite thin when she came to us, so she has a little filling out to do now that her pups are weaned and gone. Because of her gentle nature, we are thinking that--with a little training--Moriah could be a wonderful therapy dog, visiting old folks at the nursing home or even children in the hospital. Because she loves people so much, we don't want her to be a latchkey dog, so a retired couple or someone who works part time or works out of their home would be the perfect adopter for Moriah. We also want her to have a large safely fenced yard to run and play in (please, no invisible fencing). Moriah has been spayed, microchipped, wormed, immunized, and she is heartworm negative, and her adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in her, please send us an e-mail describing your lifestyle and your living situation so that we can determine if Moriah would be a good fit for you. After that, we can send you an adoption application to fill out. You may e-mail Marti at:

We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
