My Story

Thank You!!! Morgan was very nervous the first 24 hours or so at our house. He drooled, wouldn't eat, paced all night, drank excessively, wouldn't look at any of us, didn't obey commands at all, and on and on. He does none of this now in the home. However, he does all of it when he's nervous (pacing, drooling, not listening, pulling hard on the leash). Morgan does well with the whole family, cats and dogs included. Isn't interested in the horses or cattle. He needs work on manners, not invading your personal space and not eating off the counters which we are working with him on. I feed Morgan 5 cups a day in the morning in the kitchen. He eats if he feels like it. He loves treats and needs manners when we feed treats. No food aggression at all even if other animals come near his bowl. Will not eat any kind of treat if nervous. The first day or two he peed on EVERYTHING! Now he has no accidents and has never had a poop accident. Morgan follows us all around equally. He likes to be right near you. He is lying by me now as I type and he follows me into the bathroom. (He may be too "clingy" for some people.) He doesn't mind the other animals but doesn't have a "buddy" yet. Morgan isn't aggressive at all. When he first got here the cocker spaniel chased him when he was on the tie out and he was trying to get away with his tail between his legs but the tie out prevented him from getting far! He know his basic commands and walk well on a leash if he isn't nervous, but we are working on him always obeying not just if he feels like it. He is very stubborn. He can shake. He is tolerant of you looking at his teeth or ears. He stays on our property and doesn't go far from the porch unless someone is outside with him. He doesn't even follow the other dogs around the yard without a person with them. He doesn't seem interested in toys but likes ANY treat. He loves car rides but also seems to be a bit nervous as he drools when we go anywhere. He doesn't seem to be high energy so I think a daily walk would be plenty of exercise for him. He does bark if you leave and he can't come so a home where he isn't left alone for long periods would be best. I feel he would be best with older children because he is clumsy and doesn't know his strength. I would describe him as a big oaf, stubborn, loving, clueless about manners/personal space, clingy, low-medium energy, nervous if out of normal environment, sweet.
