Monte BAS

Monte was surrendered to our local animal control agency by his owner in Dec. 2023. There's no telling what prompted their decision, but it wasn't because Monte is difficult. He's one of the sweetest pups in our care! With a guesstimated birthday in Feb. 2023, he weighed about 35 lb at his vet exam in Feb. 2024. He is built like a shih tzu, although a bit taller, and has the Plott hound color of black with brindle trim (on his legs and face). Monte's behavior assessment: happy guy. He gets along with other polite dogs and loves people. Monte is being housed in our Bunch Anderson Shelter Building (BAS) in Lenoir and can be seen Saturdays from 12-4 p.m. during Shelter Dog Adoption Days or by scheduling a private Meet & Greet appointment. ********** Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed. For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, and deworming if recommended by our vet. Adult dogs will also have current heartworm test. For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine. A vet reference is required only if you are adopting an intact dog over 6 months of age (or the age our attending veterinarian recommends for spay/neuter) to ensure future altering of the dog. A refundable spay/neuter deposit is required for intact dogs/puppies. Open Adoption Events for Foster Dogs are held on most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open Adoption Events for Bunch Anderson Shelter Dogs are held every Saturday from noon-4:00 p.m. Please check our FB page for changes in Adoption Event Schedules. A scheduled Meet & Greet between Adoption Events may be possible by sending an e-mail to: [email protected]. We do not hold dogs. Fees are required in cash at Tractor Supply.
