My Story

Meet Molly This little dear is new to our rescue. Molly was originally rescued by the good folks at Endless Pawsabilities Animal Rescue in Texas. They took her from a shelter where she sat for months waiting to be adopted. Despite spending this time in a shelter, which can be stressful, she is a lovely little dog. We are delighted to help Molly find her forever home. Molly is 4 years old and weighs 10 pounds. She is a Chihuahua / American hairless terrier mix. Molly has settled in nicely to her foster home. Her foster parents tell us she is a very friendly dog who loves attention and cuddles. She is well mannered in the home and is starting to learn some basic commands. Her adopter will have to continue with her training. She has been quiet but is starting to become a bit more vocal, occasionally barking at noises outside the house or at seagulls or motorcycles if she sees them outside. Molly is housetrained and has had no accidents; she is very patient but will tell you when she needs to go out. She does not like the rain and this little Southern gal is still getting used to the colder weather preferring to stay in bed when it's a bit chilly :) She loves going for walks and is good on a leash. She loves to chase squirrels and will lurch at them without warning, and she may also chase cats when out on a walk. Her fosters live in a quiet area without a lot of loud traffic noise, but they have taken her on adventures including cars and all forms of transit and report that she is very brave. She does not care for large loud crowds but is very adaptable to busier streets. She is friendly and charming when meeting people and other dogs when she is on leash. She seems more interested in people than other dogs. Molly is the only animal in our foster home but the rescue in Texas told us she is friendly with other dogs and cats in the home. A meet and greet would be necessary with any applicants to ensure she got along with any other animals in her forever home. We feel Molly would not do well being left alone for long periods of time during the day. She enjoys being close to her people. An ideal adopter would be someone who works from home. Molly is an active dog and would do well with adopters who can give her plenty of daily exercise. At this time, she gets four walks / day. When first rescued in Texas, Molly tested positive for Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis. She has been treated and shows no symptoms of either disease. Her bloodwork shows these diseases are no longer active. She will require follow up bloodwork in 6 months. Molly is a hairless mix. There are some areas on her body (especially her back) where the skin is quite dry and leathery with rough spots. Her foster parents notice her scratching at some areas a few times a day. Despite this she loves to be rubbed by her people and is very affectionate. We had her examined by our vet who feels this condition is chronic. He has recommended she is seen by a dermatologist - we are waiting for an appointment at the time of this posting and will post an update once an appointment is confirmed. (Our rescue will cover the cost of this appointment.) Currently, Molly is bathed twice a week with a medicated shampoo. She is exceptionally good at bath time and lets her foster parents handle her with no issue. She gets a small amount of coconut oil rubbed into her skin, and to protect her skin from the sun she wears a thin t-shirt on her walks which is incredibly charming. Molly is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She is negative for heart worm. Please see our website (www.adoptadogsavealife.com) for more information about our adoption process and our adoption application. Our adoption process includes a telephone interview, a home visit (in person or virtual), reference checks and a meeting with the dog. An adoption fee of $500.00 applies. Molly is in a foster home in Toronto ON **Molly’s bio may change as we learn more about her.
