Missie is a cute TINY sweet little peanut...about 8-10 yrs old and just over 4 lbs. She has been severely mistreated, neglected and abandon in her past. She was found by someone that thought they found a scraggly puppy. It was actually Missie..mostly hairless from bad nutrition and starvation and what hair she had was totally matted and had to be cut off. She was skin and bones. Though she has had it rough, she doesn't hold it against people...she is a love bug...she likes to cuddle, sleep on your pillow, play occasionally and is housetrained with appropriate breaks. She is a small dog, so as long as she can get out every 4 hours or so, she is housetrained. She will ask to go out if someone is around, and does fine overnight. She is good with other dogs, but mostly just indifferent. She will play with people occasionally, but is mostly a loving lapdog. She is friendly with strangers, and likes kids, but due to her extremely small size, will not be placed with them. She does get testy with other dogs if they get near her food. She is a little overprotective of it after having been starved for an extended period of time. She is fine with cats. She should be in a home without kids, or large or exuberant dogs.
The following is from her foster Mom who has had her for quite awhile now...she needed to gain weight and recover before she could be made available. "They say pictures speak a thousand words, but this one mostly says "please hold me!" Missie is a teeny tiny maltese mix with the softest fur ever - and much cuter in person than this picture suggests! When she came, she had straggly bits of longer hair and dirt caked on her thin, pink skin. She weighed about half of current weight and spent about 23hrs a day sleeping. That was a couple months ago. After a haircut, a good diet, and lots of love, Missie is getting healthier and spunkier every day! She is a 'talker' and will let you know when she needs something! She has growled at larger animals, but eventually tolerates their presence if they are calm. She is an older dog and doesn't move very fast, so she has had some close calls with fast feet and heavy doors (but remains unscathed!). She is one of the sweetest dogs ever and deserves a home where she is a valued and cherished member of the family!" She really has come so far in our home! we will try to take better pictures when we get a new camera.
