Mila is a 10 year old spayed female chihuahua that was seized for neglect. This little stinker was very brave at the dogtor yesterday! We were shocked to learn Mila doesn’t have a heart murmur BUT she’s still a bit of a mess. Her ears are full of yeast and we’ve started topical and oral antibiotics for her skin and her poor face. She has some “old dog” lungs on X-ray but her heart looked good! She does have a small tumor or possible hernia that will need repair. We’ve also noticed she’s wobbly on her front legs and vet confirmed she definitely has some neurological deficits. She doesn’t seem to turn her head to the left and both front paws failed the conscious proprioception test.
Unfortunately she was a little too stressed to get a blood draw today so we will go back another day. It was a very busy and stressful day for her but she did so well. Mila is just so sweet and happy ~ you’d never know she has really suffered physically. We can't wait to give her her happily ever after that she deserves.
