Mikey

Mikey is an energetic, spunky, cuddly 4 month old French Bulldog/Pug/Beagle(?) mix with the cutest little underbite! Though he is still a baby and is expected to get a bit bigger once he reaches adulthood, this boy will stay small at around 35lbs. He's a tad more than half of that currently! Mikey was found wandering the streets by our local animal control and was subsequently taken to the shelter. At the shelter, the staff soon realized that Mikey had some nasty orthopedic issues going on with his front legs. After taking x-rays of his legs, they learned that this poor little man had a broken elbow on one leg and a fractured wrist on the other! Despite the pain he must've been in his injuries, he was still the happiest boy! Mikey was slated to be euthanized due to having no adoption/rescue/foster interest and the shelter did not want him indefinitely sitting in a kennel in constant pain. He was supposed to be euthanized the day before we went to the shelter to pull another dog, but the staff "ran out of time" so lucky Mikey got a 24 hour extension. When we went to get the other dog we pulled we saw Mikey and decided we couldn't just leave without him, so we took him too! Mikey just recently had extensive surgery to fix his broken elbow and the vet is very optimistic for a full recovery! Mikey's wrist fracture on the other leg was already in the process of healing so the vet decided to leave it to continue to heal on its own. Not a day after his surgery, Mikey was already up and rearing to play! Even in his clunky cast, this crazy guy still wants to run around! Mikey is the sweetest boy and he loves to get attention from humans. He's a little velcro puppy and just wants to be where you are! Mikey is great with other dogs and greatly enjoys playing with others, and he's good with cats and kids as well. He's still working on trying not to tinkle when he gets excited, but other than that he's been potty training like a champ! Since he had major surgery and has to be on crate rest for a while, it's a given that he's a pro at crate training! Mikey is such a special boy who deserves to be spoiled rotten in the best home possible after all he's been through in his short lifetime. Mikey is still recovering from surgery and will not be able to go on transport for adoption for a little while yet, but we are actively accepting applications for him at this time! Mikey is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
