My Story

Thank you for visiting Midge! By choosing to adopt a dog through C.A.R.E.S., you are not only giving a wonderful dog a forever home, but you are allowing us to rescue another dog on death row. You are also choosing to support a true no-kill rescue organization. Thank you!.

Look at the sweet face! Midge came to us via South Dakota, where her owners brought her to a clinic to have her euthanized because they just didn’t want her anymore. That happens a lot over there. At least they surrendered her rather than just dumping her somewhere to fend for herself. Midge deserves so much better than that, she is a very nice girl. She has had surgery on her hips (Femural Head Ostectomy) because she was in some kind of an accident and they didn’t have it fixed immediately (imagine that!). She is all fixed and should have no problems in the future.

Midge weighs 35#, and she looks like a mix between a Corgi and Shepherd. She is absolutely adorable!

Midge gets along with other dogs and cats. She is very submissive around other dogs and would prefer to be left alone by them. Because of her herding instinct, she may chase cars, so extreme care must be taken to keep her safe. No small children who don’t know how to close gates and doors behind them. And a fenced-in yard is a must.

Midge is a very precious girl. She is a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly and just wants to be appreciated. She loves to have a game of fetch with her person or she's just amuse herself by flinging her toys in the air. She's so cute!

Midge really deserves a great home that will love her forever, so that her past life will be obliterated from her mind! Who would like to be that new life?

This dog's adoption fee is $265 (plus tax). This includes being spayed/neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (May-Dec) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. If you'd like to have an application emailed to you, just email us. Thank you!
