Mickey - is 14 lbs, white with black ears, about 5-6 yrs old and very very sweet! Mickey was dumped on a major highway in our area. A vet tech actually witnessed this dump and rescued this baby. However, she couldn't keep him so we helped! He had tons of ticks on him and was severely matted. He came from a very neglectful situation.
Mickey required back surgery after a very weird injury (2 days after we got him), he jumped off a bed or a short stool, not sure which one and ruptured a disc- this was the first and only time he made this jump in our care. Vets are very suspicious?
the surgery was a success- he should have a full recovery. We have some major physical therapy- exercise 3-4x day and water physical therapy 2x day. I will have to go home at lunch to do one session of his therapy and wake up an extra 45 min early in the mornings.....
He goes back for a follow up in 2 weeks and again at 4 weeks. The surgery was well worth the $1,600 + $200 ER visit = $1,800.

August 2008- MICKEY IS WALKING!! He still has some issues, but he is doing great! We still have to watch what he does, in order to prevent re-injuring his back. He thinks he can do 'everything'- lol
