My Story

MIA While it is often said that good things come in small packages, we want to let everyone know that fabulous things come in BIG packages! Say hello to Mia, the newest addition to our line-up of PLUS kids looking for a special, forever home. Mia is a 15-month old pure bred English Mastiff. Please do a "Google" search on the English Mastiff for a plethora of information on this spectacular breed. Mia is still puppy and at approximately 110 pounds, still has some growing to do. Mia has been fully vetted and has had a complete physical exam. She had minor surgery to remove a growth on her knee which was an injury that had gone untreated until she arrived at Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus. Or Vet estimates that Mia will grow a bit more (she is 30 inches now) and her ideal adult weight will be between 135 and 140 pounds. Mia loves kids and is content to lie quietly beside a child and get a belly rub (there's a lot of belly to rub!). She lived with cats in her former home and in her foster home we also find her to be very tolerant of the cats. She doesn't pay them any mind at all. Mia gets along with all her foster siblings which are a mix of many sizes of dogs both large and small, male and female. She has discovered the joy of playing with toys and is having great fun sharing her toys with all her new friends. Today we would describe Mia's personality as shy, however, her former home was quite restrictive and now that she has the freedom to play and be a puppy, it should be noted that she is developing confidence which enhances her sweet disposition. Mia is reliably house trained. We will require Mia's new family be devoted and committed to the Mastiff breed which includes obedience training, daily exercise, a high-quality diet, not to mention lots of love and time for belly rubs! If you are interested in Mia, please visit www.ildoberescue to complete and submit an adoption application. Once approved, please contact foster folks Lillian & Paul Santschi at 815-652-3790 for additional information.
