My Story

Melissa is a beautiful 3-year-old chocolate Labrador who has blossomed into a loving and playful companion after leaving her life on a farm. She’s a medium-sized dog at 65 pounds and is in great shape. Recently spayed and fully recovered, Melissa is now ready to find her forever home. Melissa is the perfect mix of playful energy and calm companionship. She loves her daily walks, and while she’s still working on perfecting her leash manners, she enjoys every moment of being outside. She’s also a big fan of playtime, especially with plushies that she loves to squeak and sometimes gently destroy. Melissa plays well with other dogs and has a close bond with her foster sister, Freda. In the house, Melissa is a gentle and affectionate dog. She follows her foster mom everywhere and enjoys lounging on the couch with her furry friends when left alone. She’s fully housetrained, has no problem being left alone with her foster sister for a few hours, and is excellent on car rides—calmly sitting in the back seat and enjoying the view. Melissa can be a little timid, especially with new people, and is still warming up to her foster dad. However, with patience, gentle encouragement, and some tasty treats, she’s making progress every day. She even met a toddler recently and did wonderfully—calm and gentle with no signs of anxiety. The ideal home for Melissa would be one where she can continue to grow in confidence and receive the love and care she deserves. She’d do best in a home with a patient family who can help her adjust to new situations at her own pace. A household where she’s not left alone for long periods would be ideal, though she’s reliable when left alone with another dog for a few hours. Melissa will make a wonderful addition to an active family looking for a loyal, loving, and playful companion. If you’re ready to give Melissa the forever home she deserves, she’s ready to fill your life with joy and love.
