My Story

8-23-09 Maya is doing fantastic- what a sweet easy girl to have around- an update and more info from her foster mom..."She is very interested in food and will always have her eye on you at meal time ,she is not pushy so understands when you say no .I feed her twice a day and she gets so excited at meal time she bounces patiently. She usually gets a treat when we come in for our walks sometimes dog treats or vegetables, carrots, green beans . I have not tried apples yet but I am pretty sure she would eat them .It makes her happy and helps with her weight. She sleeps on a dog bed that's not to say she would not like to cuddle but has been very good about staying on her bed.She has never had an accident in the house. She is an older dog so probably would not expect her to have the bladder control of a younger dog. Since I am here all day she does not have to wait for more then a couple of hours but does go from 9-5 every night. She will ask to go out. I don't have an answer for the younger children.I have never seen any aggression from her.She may be excited from strange dogs. She would probably bark but I would not call her aggressive. She is very willing to go for car rides and rides quietly but we have not gone much .When she stays home here she has two other dogs to keep her company so is quite content I would think she would love to be with her family where ever they go .She has gotten use to our routine here so she naps with the others and is ready to go when ever you are.She gets excited over the ball and loves to fetch but is not obsessive She is a sweet, well behaved, happy older dog who is not over the hill yet. " 7/1/09: Maya's foster reports: Maya's doing great She gets along well with the dogs and ignores the cat. She's very easy going and happy to just hang out. She has the run of the house and stays off the furniture. She is great on a leash and loves her walks. Maya is great with people - very calm, not at all pushy, just quietly parks herself near them for ear rubs. She is a sweet dog.

Can you imagine never looking for your pet? Somehow, no one came looking for Maya. Maya was found by good samaritans. They tried hard to find her owners, but after over a week they had to bring her to the shelter. Maya is a super sweet senior Lab (at least we think she might be around 7 years old or so) who needs a foster home asap. She gets along fabulously with other dogs.

**All dogs are in our partner shelters in the south unless marked "In Maine" or "In New England". **
