Maxxine

This little cutie is Maxxine, a just-turned-1-year-old girl (not spayed yet), and she’s in need of a new home. She's currently residing in Olympia. We haven’t met Maxxine, or Maxx, yet in person but are told she’s a goodgirl who loves to play with other dogs, sticks and toys, and has also had basic obedience training. She’s good on leash, knows the basics (sit, down, come, shake) and is ready to work on her confidence. She’s just a baby and is nervous around new people (although we’re told she loves children), and sometimes she will bark and lunge at strangers if she’s scared. She rides well in the car and is house trained and crate trained. Maxxine has been around cats and is playful with them, although she plays rough, so the cats may not like her as much as she likes them – any cats in the home should be introduced s-l-o-w-l-y. Maxxine is at a crucial point in her life – she’s very young and needs someone with experience who can help her to feel safe and understands how to build trust in a dog who’s anxious around new people. She would thrive in a home with another dog who can model good behavior, and, along with her human, teach her that new people are just new friends she hasn’t met yet. Force free/positive reinforcement training will go a long way to give this baby the confidence she needs to become the joyful Rottweiler she is meant to be.
