Maxine

Maxine is 2 years old in these pictures taken May 23, 2009.  She has had it a bit of a rough year as she has been living in a car after her owner's house was destroyed by a fire.  The owner moved in with neighbors until he passed a way from a long illness a little over two months ago.  They did not want Maxine in the house for some reason.  They contacted a volunteer after Maxine's owner died and asked for assistance in placing her.

Maxine is now in a foster home in a house with other dogs.  It was sort of sad at first, her foster mom says, because Maxine kept going to her car to try to get in.  Now she has settled in and loves playing with the other dogs.  She enjoys getting attention from the neighbor children too.  Perhaps Maxine's favorite thing is cuddling up with her foster mom, Renee.  She also likes to sleep with her. Maxine has really started coming out of her shell. When she came to the shelter to get her pictures taken, everyone fell in love with her and she enjoyed getting all of the attention.  She enjoyed meeting the other dogs too and ignored the cat in cage.  Maxine does great on a leash, rides well in the car, and is a gentle and well behaved dog.  She does bark when people come to the car or her foster mom's home, but isn't aggressive.
