Max is a gentle, 75-80 lb giant – beautiful, beautiful boy! By man’s standards, he should have checked out of here a couple of years ago. But thanks to his vet and it simply not being his time, he’s still with us. He had cancerous tumors and one vet recommended that he be put down and a young woman (another vet) said, “he has so much life left”. On that note, she administered some meds and Max has not had a problem since! His owner has to relocate to TX and just can’t take him along due to the nature of his job. There would be no one to take care Max. When it’s time to go out and take care of his business, he’ll definitely let you know, with a nudge and prancing around. When outside, before anything, he has a need to check the perimeter of the house from the back gate to the front, all directions! If there’s another animal (possum, squirrel or cat) in the yard, he’s going after it! He’s not too fond of other dogs. If they’re anywhere close, Max will start barking and the hair on his back will rise. Max enjoys his toys, especially his toy tire and he’ll play nice with you and his toys. He takes it with him everywhere that he goes. He has lots of character – when he wants to play, he’ll get in between your legs and just push until you rub his head. Toddlers make him a bit nervous – he’s not sure what to make of them. He does better with teens and adults. The funniest thing about Max is the way he sleeps – he put’s his left paw behind his head! Unbelievable! His snoring can be pretty loud sometimes – he looks and sounds human! Max really is a sweet, loving guy, who loves his rub downs and he gives plenty of licks of love.
