My Story

Max is staying where he is! He was adopted by a wonderful family but the other dog in the home was not as keen on him staying as the rest of the family was. Thankfully, the dogs are getting along better every day and Max is going to stay in this wonderful home!
Thank you to Max's family for sticking my Max and not giving up on him. He is a lucky boy! >br>
Max is a fantastic, loveable and neutered Lab/Shar-pei/Bully cross (at least those are our best breed guesses) who is in need of a permanent home.
He is a short, stocky 62 pounds (up 12 from the emaciated 50 when we first took him in).
Max's coat looks completely black in the photos – but in the sunshine you can see shades of red brindle in his fur.
He is a beautiful dog (we get stopped by people on the street), he doesn't shed much at all, walks great on a leash (no pulling), loves our cat and gets along well with dogs he meets on the street.

He's completely house trained (he will come and get you, bark and take you to the door when he needs to go out), very obedient and extremely intelligent. He knows the commands 'sit', 'stay', 'shake a paw' and 'lie down'.
He is fine alone all day inside the house while we are at work (usually for around 9-10 hours) and just wants a short 15 minute walk and his dinner when we get home. When we come home from work or even from being out for 5 minutes – he likes to let us know how happy he is to see us by squealing and 'talking', letting us know all about his day.
Since Max is little bit of an older guy, (probably around 8 years old), he doesn't need much exercise. He really isn't into chasing balls or swimming but still has lots of love, affection and tail wags to give.
Max is a fairly confident dog, so it may take time to build trust with him. We have had Max for about 5 weeks and his affection is still growing every day.
He would do best in a home with no other dogs, and with an owner who is not looking for a running or hiking companion. He would be a perfect dog for someone who enjoys Labs, Shar-pei and/or Bully breeds but may not up to their usually high energy level!
Max just wants a warm bed, a healthy diet and lots of hugs and cuddles from his new people.
Overall, he is perfect for a one dog household and would make an awesome addition to anyone's family.
