My Story

Name: Max Purebred/Mix: appears to be Age: Unsure (We think 5-6 years old) Gender: Male Spay/Neuter: Yes Current on vaccinations: Yes Heartworm status: Completed heartworm treatment December 2022 and has been fine ever since Current on heartworm prevention: Yes Microchipped: Yes Good with dogs: Yes. Anytime he goes to the vet, he is well behaved in the lobby with other dogs going crazy around him. He is great with my cocker spaniel. Good with kids: Yes. My elementary school kids love to pet him and hug him. He likes to know what they’re up to! Good with cats: NO. This is the ONLY reason why we can’t keep him in our household. He is instinctively hunting our cats. We’ve had too many close calls, and I can’t risk what that trauma would do to my kids. Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Unsure if officially crate trained (my gut says no). He doesn't care to be confined in a space. I'm guessing that he was originally an outside dog, but 100% loves to be inside with occasional sunbathing lounge time thrown in. Temperament: Huggable, loveable, friendly, loves car rides, loves to be anywhere you are. He is not a barker….very chill! Rarely do we hear him bark....even when people ring the doorbell. He is truly the best dog and ultimate companion! He would be ideal for someone who is home a lot or wants to take him where you go. He would absolutely love that! He's great with our cocker spaniel. Behavioral issues: Does not do well with cats. This is the only issue we have with Max….he really is such a great dog! Reason for surrender: He was a stray that our family took on (first time doing so) in the Fall of 2022. He was so slim and starving, covered in fleas and had heartworms. He underwent two heartworm treatments with success and has been thriving ever since. It's been a joy to spend an entire year with him and see his transformation. He is a loving, special dog and it’s been an honor to care for him. He will make someone or some family out there very happy. He’s the ultimate companion. **PLEASE NOTE** Re-homing posts are German Shepherds being placed up for adoption by their owners.
