Max

Max was found by one of our volunteers at a Dollar General store. He walked right up to her, giving her a huge smile and wagging his tail. A hurricane was going to hit Texas and she didn't want Max to be alone on the streets, so she brought him home. After plastering his face everywhere, no owner stepped forward. She brought him to the local shelter to see if his owner might come looking for him there. After nearly 30 days at the shelter, no one came for him and he was on the euthanasia list. He was a volunteer favorite - friendly, kind, gentle, and sweet. Max is high heartworm positive so he is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. We are looking for his forever and can move him into a foster to adopt home immediately. Otherwise, he will be available for adoption when his heartworm treatment is complete in October. Max is: 4 years old 56lbs Very mellow - enjoys his walks but would also love to hang inside all day with you Friendly with people and dogs Good with dogs who are his size, and he prefers the company of females Loves a good zoomie session outside with a dog friend Potty trained Excellent in the crate Pulls on leash so does need to continue leash training Good in the car Max is still working on building his confidence, so we recommend slow intros to other dogs in the home. Once he's comfortable, he's wonderful, but can get overwhelmed if there are more than a few dogs in a room.
