My Story

Marty is a striking brindle and white pup with vivid white feet. He was born December 21. 2023. Marty came to HART from a shelter in Kentucky. The folks dropping him off said that the mother is part Newfoundland, however, he does not look like a Newfoundland. He is going to be large dogs, Marty weighs 61 pounds at 28 weeks old and has large feet. It is very difficult to estimate adult weight, but could be 80 pounds. He is in excellent health. Marty is happy go lucky, laid back, and confident pup. He likes children, adults, and other dogs. He enjoys playing tug of war and keep away as well as wrestling with his siblings. He plays with 5 adult dogs and has goes to doggie day camp regularly. Walks on a lead and rides well in the car. Marty is big on giving hugs instead of licks and loves to cuddle. Marty is robustly house trained. He is also crate trained but not crated in the foster’ house. He loved the snow and was ok with med-light rain, but he didn’t appreciate the windy heavy rain. His activity level is about average to a bit below. He sleeps through the night in the fosters family room (will stay in a crate id preferred. He sleeps 8-9 hours through the night without protest. He enjoys chew toys, tug-of-war, chewing on sticks, and playing with other dogs. He is highly food motivated, so training should be easy. Marty would do best with a fenced yard, as he loves to wonder around stiffing and playing in the flower beds or anything he can find. All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
