My Story

Martha is a 9-year-old lady from Upson County. She has completed treatment for heartworms and is now healthy. Miss Martha is red & white and weighs about 35 lbs. She was initially very shy but has become more acclimated in her foster home. She can get excited & then does the scooting in a circle with her tail tucked run. Her foster mom thinks she scares herself and crouches on her belly and/or hides in the bushes. She's learned to walk on a leash and now gets very excited when she sees the leash. Her foster mom says, "Now I know this sounds like I'm making fun of her, but, when she walks, her tail keeps wagging non-stop AND her little boobies swing back & forth, back & forth, tail wags, boobies swing, tail, boobies....well maybe you have to see it". She was not real sure about a doggie bed at first but now she runs to hop on it before anyone else. She prefers a dog biscuit to an oatmeal & raisin cookie. Miss Martha has a very droopy-eyed basset soulful face. This is a very gentle soul and even though she has probably not had an easy time, her foster mom is certain she has alot of potential & will make a great pet. UPDATE: Miss Martha is doing okay with her housetraining, but if you don't get her out every 2 hours, she'll slide over to a corner for some privacy. Of course she's totally apologetic afterwards. She reminds her foster mom of a dog that's spent alot of time caged. She has become much more receptive to petting but gets very uncomfortable with hugs. If she's asleep and you touch her, she jolts up off the bed and immediately starts to run. It takes her a second to realize what's going on. Miss Martha has really gotten into walks. She seems to love running in little spurts - then she stops and barks - then runs some more For more photos and for information on adopting this dog, please visit http://www.bhrg.org.
