My Story
UPDATE - APRIL 8:
?Hi. Marcus here. I've landed in a foster home with a foster sister. Thank goodness. Animatch is awesome, but the noise and activity was just too much for me. Here, I can chill, and work out some of my "bugs". However, let’s talk about the good things first! Foster Mom says that I am NOT food aggressive, get along with dogs with the proper introductions, not destructive (except I destroyed 3 stuffed toys at a Meet & Greet in mere minutes) and sleep quietly through the night. I love my walks and sitting next to you on the couch. I went on a long hike in the woods the other day. The path was VERY flooded, but FM says I was a real trooper, and almost had to swim thru the flooded areas. I love car rides, and prefer to ride shotgun. I used to get agitated with cars and people walking dogs as we drove by, but FM taught me to ignore, and now the ride is peaceful.
My FM has never required potential adopters to have a fenced yard, because she insists dogs must be walked, and not just "thrown" into the back yard. She believes I must be walked, but I so love to run, that a fenced back yard would be ideal to burn off some steam. You would never believe I am 8 years old when you see me running around the backyard like a gazelle. (I am NOT a candidate for dog parks).
Let's talk about the elephant in the room. I can be leash aggressive. I pick my moments, and it isn't pretty. People look at my FM like she is a crazy person for having a dog like me. However, with practice, and "high value" treats, we have come a long way. Once I have met you (the dog), I remember, and we don't repeat this scenario. Yes, there will be work involved in resolving my "little issue", but if you are up for the task, you won't be disappointed.
If you feel you can offer me what I need, the please fill in the Application Form.
?UPDATE - MARCH 19:
Hey, Marcus here and I’m back! Sadly, my adoption was not a success. Sometimes it just doesn’t work – nobody’s fault, that’s life. So, for take 2 I’m on the lookout for an experienced person with fenced yard – apartments/condos are simply not for me as I am quick to sound the alarm (bark). Also, my second favorite pastime after going for long walks is retrieving a ball or frisbee and a fenced yard will keep me safe. I am sweet, friendly, and affectionate … unless I am on leash and another dog is coming my way. We need to continue to work on that. Already, my doggy meltdowns are happening a lot less often.
If you give me patience, plenty of love, and commitment, you will have found a BFF forever. Please consider adopting me. Fill in the Application Form and ask for Marcus.
?My name is Marcus and I am one happy fellow right now – apparently, I’ll be going to a family who will commit to me for the rest of my life. I just hope that it doesn’t take too long; you see I don’t do great in a kennel environment. I was transferred from SPA – Mauricie for that reason; my human was old, sick, and had to make the difficult decision to let me go.
At 8 years old, I may be all grown up – some would say I am into my senior years -- but I am still a puppy at heart. I’m depending on you for guidance, support and a lifelong commitment. I really want to be the greatest dog I can be. Best guess is that there is some Minpin in my mix which means that I will require plenty of exercise. I am always so very excited when I see the dog walkers come to me with a leash. I might even enjoy retrieving a ball, so let’s give it a try.
Right now, other dogs find me a little too excitable so I would do better as your one and only. That may change but for now, I am sure that we can be an amazing duo. I am quick to sound the alarm, so apartment/condo living would not be for me. Rest assured, there will be no squirrels or little critters in our yard and I will sound the alarm to let you know when UPS has made a delivery. I know I am asking a lot, but I think it’s a fair bargain for a lifetime of friendship.
So, if you think that I’m your guy, hurry on up and fill in the Application Form.
