Marcus

Marcus is such a sweet, loving, gentle boy. He is only a year or two old. He was found as a stray and was unclaimed at the shelter where we rescued him just before he was going to be euthanized. Someone must have loved him because he trusts people and already knows “sit” and “stay”—and “shake hands”! He came to us from a shelter in Texas, and—not too surprisingly (coming from the deep south)—he has tested positive for heartworms. He seems to be healthy, though, and our vet thinks that he must just have just recently been infected, so she is quite certain no harm has been done. We are starting his treatment and will continue with (and will pay for) his treatment during the summer months, but are hoping to find a foster/adopter in our area (near Madison, Wi.) who would like to take him in during this time with an eye to adopting him once his heartworm treatment is complete. Marcus has been neutered, microchipped, tested (negative) for intestinal parasites, and he is updated on his distemper and rabies shots. So….he just needs a few months more to treat him for his heartworms. In the meantime, we are hoping to find a foster/adopter in the Madison, Wi area who could provide him with the love and attention he needs and deserves, we would be willing to waive his adoption fee. Marcus walks well on a leash and is good with other dogs. He would enjoy a safely fenced yard (no "invisible" fencing) and an adopter who is home much of the time.
