COURTESY LISTING!
"This animal is presently in the care of a person who hopes to find it a good home. This animal is not a Humane Society of West Alabama dog and does not sponsor or foster the animal, but provides this information to help the animal find a permanent home. Please contact the individual." Contact Amy Trice at 205/345-4939 or 205/393-7012(cell) if you wish to meet Marci or have any questions. Marci resides in Northport, AL in a training facility.

This is Marci, an 11 month old female spayed Beauceron (DOB 4/29/07). Her owners bought her in California, kept her till they had a baby and then couldn't handle both. She gets along great with other dogs, loves fetch, is crate trained, house trained, knows sit/down/kennel, walks right by your side -we are working on "come" She would love a farm where she could "herd", or have a job. She would love an active owner. Marci is a protective breed and needs an owner who can be a leader. All potential adopters will be screened carefully due to the breed of dog.
Highlights of the Beauceron Breed: They are an excellent natural guard dog whose appearance and demeanor command respect.
The Beauceron is happiest when it is working or exercising in wide-open spaces.
They are instinctive herders who will herd everything in sight unless trained to do otherwise.
They like to know who is boss and then they follow.
Thorough training with a firm master is absolutely necessary.
This breed is sociable with dogs they know, but they are highly territorial and will not tolerate an intruder.
The Beauceron should be given lots of attention and exercise.
This breed needs a job to do and lots of space to express and use his energy. They are not satisfied with a circling of the block three times a day. Take it for regular long walks during which it can run free off the leash and play (in a safe area).
