Mara is a young female "flowered" Shar-pei, although she may look like a mix she is all Shar-pei. She has a beautiful and less common multi-colored coat.
Mara is still a pup at only 7 months old. She has not yet been spayed but will be before adopted into a new home. She is a healthy young girl who was born with a minor birth defect, a club foot. You can see her front paw is off kilter in her photos and in the newly posted video. This does not slow her down at all tho, as you can see! She is eager to go for walks, can play like any other dog and is an active girl.
This girl is sweet as pie and loves ALL humans.
She will require a home willing to give her the exercise and boundaries every good little dog requires of course but has a great personality to start off! Mara is at the right age for some training and socialization to help her become the best little dog she can be. She is still a pup so will need your guidance. She is eager to please and when you let her know what you want she is happy to earn your praise! She loves praise, is very attentive and a pleasure to be around.
Mara has not met very many other animals so reacts with excitement, loud grunting, sometimes barking when she sees another dog. On of our volunteers has been taking her out as her owner is unable to walk her very far or often; Mara is searching for a new home due to an injury her owner has suffered. Her owner is no longer able to give her what she needs and wants to see her have a better, more active life than he can provide. So, we are helping not only to re-home her but to socialize her with other dogs as well. She is doing well and with continued guidance, lots of exposure to other dogs that understand her excitement and do not take it the wrong way, and more exercise to release her energy she will continue to flourish! She has even had some off-leash time with some K-9 pals as well as a few very cramped car rides with them! She wants to meet every dog she encounters but is still learning proper greeting skills and how to play with other dogs.
