My Story

My name is Mama Mia. I am 10 years old, and my husband Papa is 8. We are both Boston terrier/Pekingese mixes and we’re both spayed/neutered. We came to our foster mother’s house emaciated and dehydrated. We cringe at sudden movements; my foster mom suspects we were beaten. Papa got it worst; he used to scream every time they tried to take him out! After several months of living here though, he is getting better. He is learning not all people hit.

We LOVE to lie on the bed or couch with our ‘pack leader’. We LOVE to go for car rides! I just want to be with my foster mother all the time, but Papa feels safest huddled up next to our foster mom’s husband’s side of the bed, but we can handle time at home alone with the other dogs. I don’t get into any mischief, but when a new dog or human approaches my master; I bark and go to check them out. I take my mistress’s protection very seriously! As soon as I find out they’re not a threat, my tail stirs up the air with wagging so fast!

Papa and I haven’t shown any aggression, and have acclimated into my foster mom’s pack easily. At first, we were very unsure of our new surroundings, but soon learned that new experiences can be pleasant. I have no concept of boundaries like curbs… (i.e. just walks into the street), and I go kind of gaga when out for a walk… I was never taken for walks or rides. Papa doesn’t stray very far when let out, and falls onto his back if you yell! It makes my foster mom feel bad that he is so scared of her, and she never did anything to him. We were shut up in our old house for god knows how long, and our last 6 months or so, I lived with Papa in an abandoned house, being checked on every other day.

Our foster mom wormed us, and fed us so well that we’ve both put on a much more healthy weight. We have good teeth for older dogs, but when they went to neuter Papa, we found out he has a heart murmur! It’s OK though, he doesn’t show any coughing or wheezing, and doesn’t run around much. I have a little cataract over one eye, but it doesn’t bother me at all. We both love it at our foster mom’s house, but she says if she kept every foster she got; she wouldn’t have room to help other dogs.

We would like to find a home and be adopted together. We know our age might deter most families, but think of it this way; we won’t need to be housetrained! We don’t chew like a younger dog might, and we don’t bark for no reason. We would probably do well with maybe older people who like to sit somewhere warm like we do. We both still have years left! We’re good with kids and cats and other dogs. We like to answer the door; our foster mom calls us a doggy doorbell! Do you think maybe you have room for us in your home and hearts?

Mama and Papa are being fostered in Wilmington, DE. Their adoption fee will be $40 (that is for both). If you are interested in learning more or giving a loving forever home to Mama and Papa you can email Dawn at silvercat2800@hotmail.com or call (302)-897-9779
