Maisie was once a lost stray dog at an overcrowded shelter. It was February, she was pregnant & heartworm positive & had very little chance at being adopted or rescued. The Shelter pleaded for help, showing videos of how sweet & affectionate she was. Very soon her time ran out. Second Chance decided to bail her out & save her & her puppies. Two days after she got to her foster home, she gave birth to 10 puppies.
After her puppies had all been adopted, Maisie was spayed and then started her heartworm treatment. Everything is finally completed but she will need to have a follow-up heartworm test in 6-9 months (to be covered by Second Chance).
Maisie needs a one-time foster or adopter. Right now, she is in boarding due to our lack of foster homes. Can you help Maisie?
Maisie is a 2 yr old Black Lab / Border Collie mix who weighs approx. 78#. The following information comes from the volunteers that have spent time her:
She loves car rides - does not even try to climb up front.
Loves walks, does pull some at first until she does her business then settles down.
Treat motivated - knows sit, and down pretty well.
Crate trained; Housetrained
Very loving & affectionate
Does well meeting dogs and people on walks.
A volunteer took her to the VA hospital where she visited with veterans and did well around wheelchairs.
She would be OK with another dog or love to have all your attention for herself.
She will match your energy level - if your excited she'll one up you. When she gets too excited, try to ignore her until she settles down.
She loves to just sit and let you pet her after a walks.
Sleeps in a dog bed or a crate
She is a strong chewer loves the big knuckle bones, tendon chews, & bully sticks.
Second Chance will provide the food and supplies you would need to foster her. Any pre-approved medical expenses are covered as well. Maizie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you have questions or are offering to foster Maisie, please call 651-771-5662. Her foster would have the first opportunity to adopt her if they would choose to do so.
