My Story

ADOPTED! - Hi! My name is Maisie! Don't you think I have beautiful coloring? (My foster mom says I look like a marble cake.) I'm not sure what mix of breeds I am. My foster mom says she can definitely see some Whippet in me, but....she's not sure what else. (She guesses there might be a touch of Plott Hound in me, but...who knows?) Anyway, I came from a shelter where I was going to be put to sleep because they didn't have enough room for all the nice dogs like me. But I was one of the lucky ones--because I am now safe with a rescue group while I'm waiting for my "forever" home. I love everybody and am the perfect size (30 lbs.) for just about everything. I'm only about one year old so I have a long happy life to look forward to with whoever adopts me. I enjoy playing with other dogs and am a good girl if I get enough exercise, but I would definitely need a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing) because--true to my (possible) Whippet heritage--I love to run and can really cover lots of ground quickly! (I'd be a great running partner for somebody who likes to jog/run.) I would also make a great family dog and a perfect couch potato. My foster mom says I'm VERY smart, and would be the star of any obedience class I attended! (I still jump up on people sometimes so I would benefit from a little training, but I learn very quickly.) My adoption fee is $250 and I have been spayed, microchipped, checked for intestinal parasites, immunized, and heartworm tested. One thing though....I love to be with my people, so I don't want to have to be a "latchkey" dog where I'm left home alone for eight or nine hours a day. So, an owner who is retired (or semi-retired)--or an owner who works out of his/her home--would be perfect for me. If you think you would be a good fit for me, please e-mail my foster mom at: [email protected] and tell her about yourself, your schedule, your other family members/pets, etc. Then, if she feels you could provide the type of home I'm looking for, she will e-mail you an adoption application to fill out.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" adjacent to the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name above this dog's photo) before contacting us.
