My Story

This gentle, sweet couch potato is waiting for you! On my way to walk another dog, Maggie caught my eye. She was sitting on her dog bed, perfectly still, with a pensive, almost sad, look on her face. I had to take her out. She was super easy to leash and is a nice slow walker. If you are worried that her size might make her hard to walk - don't! This gal is super chill!! She moved slowly and did not pull at all. Maggie really wanted to sniff and check out her surroundings, so that is what we did. Overall she seemed a little like a deer in the headlights, perhaps because she was found as a stray and has only been in the shelter about a week. When I offered her a treat from my hand, she sniffed it, but didn't take it from my hand. Then, I put the treat on the bench, she went for it. After this, Maggie put her head near my lap, leading me to suspect I was a few treats away from gaining entry into this voluptuous gal's heart!! (Our visit was cut short by the hot weather.) When Maggie met another dog through the fence, she exhibited signs of being uncomfortable, for example her hackles raised slightly, but she did not lunge. Sweet Maggie may be dog selective - and who can blame her!! Maggie was gentle with me the entire time. Based on her slow moving gentle nature, I wonder if she would be a good fit for a family with kids. I wager that she is a champion couch potato!! If you are looking for a dog that enjoys some leisurely sniffs but doesn't require a lot of walking to thrive, I am confident Maggie will be a great fit. She has a bit of a cold, so her picture does not really do her justice. Animal ID A549048 Maggie 7.6.24 Maggie is a confident, settled dog, with a laid-back personality. Quiet and relaxed in her kennel, Maggie could be overlooked, but her charms are readily apparent when going for a walk. Maggie was very easy to leash, she knew the way to the outside door, said hello to her kennel mates, and was happy to be out in the sunshine. Maggies pure white fur makes her easy to spot, and her easy manner around people is confidence-inspiring. Maggie finished her potty outside, and we set off for a walk around the grounds. Maggie lead the way at first, allowing me take over as the heat and sun grew more intense. My impression of Maggie is a dog who is confident with people, happy with the basics, and seeks adventure in small doses.
