Adoption Application is on our webpage here - www.ckanimalrescue.com Maggie is an adorable, happy, clever little girl with lots of cuddles to give. She’s never happier than when she’s on a lap. While on the older side, Maggie still has plenty of spunk and energy, though is delighted with a lovely nap in the sun. (DOB Aug/12) Maggie came from a severe hoarding situation, but more recently was a great comfort to a fine gentleman through his last years. She has lived with both larger and smaller dogs, and does fine. She’s also met some cats, but seems largely uninterested. She is a people dog. Maggie’s favourite place to be is on a lap or right beside you getting pets on her silky hair. Whose lap you might ask? Anybody’s lap. Old, young, in between, somebody she just met, if you have a lap, Maggie is your best friend. And despite how she pretends otherwise, she can… mostly… get up there on her own. She is a bit of a barker, which is super handy. You will always know if there’s somebody at the door, if your garbage just got picked up by the garbage man, or if your package just got dropped off. No more pesky doorbells required for you! Once she gets used to the noises in the house, which doesn’t take too long, inside things don’t bother her. Maggie is used to someone being home a lot, so a retired or work from home family would be ideal. Maggie has been around children aged six and up, and provided they have a lap, she is delighted to hang out with them. She is not a picky eater and eats kibble just fine. She is happy to do a few tricks once she sees something she really likes - bow down and dance on her back legs. She is very treat driven and can grab/snatch when taking a treat, so the flat-palmed treat delivery approach is best. She can be stubborn and likes things her way, but this delightful lady can learn new tricks. You just have to be a bit more stubborn than she is. She loves to go for walks, laying on the porch and watching the world go by. She likes to wander the backyard. She loves water and would be delighted with a little pool. Has often been seen wandering into the backyard during the rain just to get a little sprinkle on her adorable head. She loves a walk and is very calm when you put her harness on. She will let you set the pace while sniffing everything on her walks. She doesn't pull but is determined and very curious. She is good when meeting other people and dogs on her walks. Maggie does well when going for car rides, she enjoys looking out the window and will lay down in the back seat until she reaches her destination. Ideal potential home for Maggie include adopters who are experienced dog owners, newly retired or work from home, are semi-active and enjoy cuddle time with Maggie. You would need to be conscientious about safety, as she wants to be where you are.
