LOCATION: Charlotte, North Carolina - Maggie's foster mom writes: This is Maggie, a 10 year old Toy Manchester Terrier. I've spent a week and a half getting to know her and getting some vetting done to prepare her for her forever home. Do you know someone looking for a lap dog? Do you know someone who wants a travel companion? What about someone looking for a dog to go with them to bars and stores? Maggie is happy to be any of those. She travels well in the car, sleeping the entire trip to the mountains last weekend. Maggie is the most happy go lucky dog I've met. She LOVES to meet new people, especially men, but she did amazing with all the kids in Lowes and my nephews. Maggie does well with all sorts of dogs, though it takes her a little bit with bigger female dogs. She isn't a pushy dominant girl, preferring to hang back and not force her way into a situation.....unless table scraps are involved. Her former owner very much indulged that habit so when scraps are involved, you might hear her very cute little quiet barks at your side. She is fine in the kennel, though she takes a little bit to settle down at night and prefers to sleep in the bed. Maggie wants nothing more than to snuggle on the bed under a blanket but that blanket doesn't have to be touching you, which is a nice change from most Toy Manchesters I know. Maggie is also entirely unphased by my cats. She sniffs but has never shown any inappropriate signs of interest.
Maggie has a lump on her chest but testing determined it to be benign (noncancerous). She will be getting her teeth cleaned before she is adopted but she is already spayed and up to date on shots. She is overweight (and is on a diet) and she also has a mild case of incontinence. We are monitoring to see if that is due to her weight or if it is something she will struggle with after she loses it. She handles diapers well, though they certainly aren't her favorite, and she is otherwise pretty house trained. She has a few accidents when I haven't had a chance to take her out as often but never in the kennel or in her diaper.
