My Story

11/10/08 - Maeve was found as a stray on October 31st in Altoona,PA and taken to the shelter. She came to be fostered in my home in Harrisburg,PA on November 3rd. I had no problem cleaning her ears, clipping her nails, trimming the hair on her feet and brushing her teeth. She will even lay down for you to do these things! She was checked by my Vet and is up to date on shots except needing a Lymes booster 3-4 weeks from the 1st one on Nov.5th. She tested negative for parasites in her stool and also for Heartworm/Lymes. He estimates that she is no older than 2 if she is even 2. Her bloodwork came back all normal and is scheduled to be spayed on Nov.13th. She gets along fine with my 3 male setters and also cats(I am told). She is very friendly, loves to play both with people and dogs, is house and crate trained, does not chew anything and can be left alone in the house. She is a deep mahogany,56.5 lbs. and a calm, beautiful girl. Her only negative fault that I can think of is that she will jump up on you when she gets excited but is getting much better with that. She loves being outside and going for walks. She responds to her new name and 'come' when I call her and is learning to sit when asked. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to PA a must to meet our dogs! Adoption fee required. To find out more about the Irish Setter breed, click here. To adopt, please submit an Adoption Application.

Every dog in rescue is placed spayed/neutered and current on their shots. They are screened for temperment and we do our best to place the right dog in the right home. We require all rescue dogs be house dogs. Irish Setters do not do well being outside only dogs. If the dog does not work out, it must be returned to Irish Setter Rescue. Adoption fees range for an older dog, could be as low as $200 to as much as $350 for a younger dog. Our average adoption fees are $350 for up to age 1 year, $300 from 1 - 3 years, $250 age 4 - 6 years and $200 for age 7 - 9. Any age 10 or older we are just so happy that someone is able to provide them a forever loving home. We try to get our vet bills covered with the adoption fees.
