MACTAVISH is a classy gentleman about 5-6 years old and about 50 pounds . He loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He was picked up as a stray in southern Illinois and came into our foster care program from a very small animal control facility, typical of the region where there are more dogs than adopters and they work hard to place dogs with rescue groups. During his veterinary exam, our Rescue Ophthalmologist diagnosed the beginning stages of Progressive Retinal Atrophy. Mac sees things fairly clearly now so this would be a great time for him to transition into his new home. We are suggesting a home with no small children because of Mac's decreasing sight and not because of any behavior issues. We can offer adopters support materials about living with blind dogs through books, websites and conversations with families who are successful doing just that.
