My Story

Meet Macie, our 35 lb. 6 year old sweet as can be, terrier mix. She came to STAF from a rural county shelter.  Macie has the most beautiful and shiny brindle coat! She is such a beauty, inside and out! She is an affectionate, playful girl who loves to play fetch and to snuggle and give kisses.  For the past few years she has been in a home that unfortunately couldn't keep her due to personal issues.  Macie sometimes gets a little overwhelmed with a lot of activity and would do best in a relatively quiet home with a fence so that she is able to safely play fetch for hours (which she seems to be able to do!).  Give her a squeaky toy and she is happy as can be! Macie would benefit from a home that will help her build confidence with the outdoors and with new people. Macie really loves being around people and gets awfully sad when her volunteer friends leave. She is really looking for a soft place to land with humans that will give her snuggles and belly rubs. She would be a true and loyal companion and we'd venture a guess that you would quickly become inseparable!! Check back soon for more details about Macie as we get to know her better. Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process and our adoption application. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
