My Story

ADOPTED! - THIS IS A COURTESY POST ONLY - FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS DOG, PLEASE DIRECT YOUR INQUIRY TO THE E-MAIL AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS WRITE-UP. - Mac is a wonderful, loving dog who harbors no ill will toward people, even though he was badly treated by his previous owner. (See the one photo, taken in early September when the police confiscated him from his neglectful owner.) Mac had been chained to a small dog house outside all day long in the blistering hot sun this past summer, and--when he first came into our rescue program--he was covered with ticks and literally thousands of fleas. While he originally had a doggie "pal" (his only friend, actually) that poor dog died from neglect, and the owners just left the body of Mac's friend in a plastic bag out in the yard, next to Mac's doghouse. Once the authorities took Mac away from his owner and he was taken in to our rescue program, it was discovered that he not only was starved and covered with fleas and ticks, but he had a skin infection...and heartworms! Fortunately, Mac has now recovered from all of his medical problems, and he's a happy, healthy guy who is ready to be adopted by a loving family. After what he's been through, we think he deserves a very special home, don't you? Our guess is that Mac is about 4 or 5 years old, and he now weighs between 55 and 60lbs.--up from the skeletal 25 lbs. he weighed when we first took him into our rescue program! Fortunately, dogs are forgiving by their very nature, so Mac has retained a well balanced, happy outlook on life and he hasn't suffered any long-lasting effects from his previous life of neglect. Mac loves everybody and he howls "hello" every time he sees us coming. He has been given a clean bill of health by his veterinarian, and he's now ready to be adopted into his "forever" home. If you think you are the special person to give this special dog a loving home, please write to us and tell us a bit about yourself so that--together--we can determine if Mac would be a good fit for you, and vice versa. If it looks like a good match, we can then e-mail you an adoption application to fill out and return to us via e-mail. Please contact Lisa at: [email protected] for more information about Mac.
