My Story
Meet Mabel, she's such a little sweetheart! She came to us as a stray, hard to believe no one claimed this beautiful girl! She has such a strong spirit for all she's gone through. It's too bad she can't tell us, but we could tell by her condition when she was found that she's had a tough life. We'd absolutely love to find her a home where she can enjoy the "good life!" :)
Mabel looks to be approx. 10 yrs old, she's current on her shots, heart worm tested, and labs done to make sure she's healthy. All checked out great except for her mouth and her right front leg. Poor baby has some old injuries, the most traumatic to see is the one to her mouth, half her lower jaw is gone, and her upper teeth are in stage 4 of Periodontal disease, so it's likely she'll get the remaining pulled. :( We do have her scheduled for her dental soon.
Once we get that done, the Vet will address her leg injury. She holds up her right front leg like a chicken wing, it's obvious it's been that way for a while. :( We moved forward on getting X-rays and it actually showed two breaks (old) that haven't healed, so much tissue has grown around it, the damage is extensive and would require plates/pins, etc., and we just can't afford that, nor do we want to put Mabel thru all that at her age, so we intend on amputating it. She's basically a tripod doggie already, but surely in pain from her old injury, so that led us to the decision to amputate it as soon as her mouth is healthy. We anticipate the only long-term issue she'll have after all her vetting will be managing her arthritis.
Despite the leg issue, little Mabel gets around pretty good! She can even manage stairs which is surprising! She does tire quickly, so her foster mama has a dog stroller she puts her in (super cute), so she can take longer strolls to enjoy the fresh air! :)
Mabel is the definition of sweet, gets along great with kiddos, other dogs, cats...really anyone she meets falls in love with this little girl! She's extremely affectionate and gentle, loves to cuddle; she'll make such a wonderful companion.
We're not sure if Mabel is fixed, but she is heart worm tested, had all her shots, as well as blood tests (all normal) and scheduled for a dental in the near future.
We'd love to find her a place to call home.
