My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Luna Mae, 8-month-old, spayed female, black labrador retriever mix, 53 pounds. Luna Mae is fostered in Federal Way, WA and is available immediately for meet-and-greets with potential adopters! If you do not live within reasonable driving distance, virtual chats can be arranged. Please note, Luna is physically in the state of Washington. Luna's mom was saved as a stray from the streets of Houston by a kind family fully intent on keeping her. What this sweet family didn't know, however, is that she was pregnant with THIRTEEN puppies!! Amazingly, this family remained dedicated to mom and pups, and sought out rescue help vetting and adopting out the pups. Luna Mae is a shy, sweet girl - reserved and diminutive until she feels comfortable and then she is all lab puppy! She has been fostered in Houston with two dogs, one senior female and a male pittie, and now she lives with a German Shepherd. Luna is very dog friendly and would definitely do best in a home with another dog to continue teaching her how to "dog" in a confident way. When she plays, Luna is very gentle - she likes mild body checks and wrestling but is not a "rough and tumble" girl. As she warms up, Luna Mae is very affectionate and thinks she is a lap dog - coming in for kisses and pets, and lots of treats. She is still shy with strangers but the more social outings she is given, the better. Luna Mae is nearly potty trained, she's had a few accidents in the house but has mostly got it down to go outside when she needs to. Luna has been taught to use potty pads and will only go on them if absolutely necessary. Her new home should understand that some regression is to be expected given the change in her routine. Sweet Luna is not destructive and is trusted to be loose in the house. She's not crated at her current foster but in Houston, she was very familiar with being kenneled. As a shy girl, the crate is a safe place for Luna and give her a sense of security especially in new environments. Luna walks really well on a leash and doesn't pull much. She takes direction from her canine siblings and follows your lead. Gentle correction and lots of praise go a long way in boosting her confidence. We have no history with kids or cats, but given her sweet gentle nature, expect she could be fine with both if properly introduced. As a general rule, we suggest homes with kids over the age of 10yrs, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. Luna's ideal home would be moderately active - either with a yard or frequent walks, and have a canine companion for her to annoy. She would love to be curled up on the couch with you watching tv and learning new tricks. She has so much love to give, she just needs the confidence to show it! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
