My Story

UPDATE: Luna is safe and sound (and cute) with German Shepherd rescue in K9 Village, where she'll receive training prior to placement. Thanks all so much for your help!

STORY:
This doggie, Luna, belonged to my neighbor who died suddenly last week. He loved Luna and she him, but he never socialized her. She stayed by his body for a day till the police came.

My neighbor's wife was out of town so they took the pets to the Pasadena Humane Society. Luna's showing poorly (lunging at staff, not biting). I went with the man's widow to see her and she's lovely with the woman, transformed into a perfect puppy. She's hyper and scared and going to need training but she could be a good girl given a chance, I'm very sure. She was always a good girl with her people, cat and dog family. Her "mother" is retired and moving in with her human daughter and unable to keep Luna. She would donate to a rescue who is able to take her. Below are pictures I took of Luna at Pasadena Humane with her "mother", and a write up by the woman's daughter. I don't know if Luna's really a Belgian Shepherd. The Humane Society has her listed as a Chow but she doesn't look a lot like one. Her temperament is kind of that of an Aussie. She's so cute and pretty when she's happy, I want to help! Please contact me right away if you can assist. If anyone can contact Cesar Milan or another rescuer/trainer, I'd love him/her to know about her. The shelter will keep Luna till just Wednesday at which point the dog's mother will board her but she can't afford to do it for long. If anyone can donate towards boarding please contact me.

OWNERS DESCRIPTION:
"Luna the Belgian Shepherd - Luna has had a bittersweet life but remains a playful and highly devoted dog. A beautiful animal with black glossy hair, she spent her first two years with a nice family, but she was too energetic for her owners (who had two small children) and was given up for adoption. Her second owner loved her as much as a person could and took her for long walks and hikes every day. Sadly, her master died from a heart attack while home alone, and Luna loyally stood guard over his body until they were eventually discovered. Now three years old, Luna loves to run and play and is an excellent companion. She is also a powerful midsize dog whocan pull hard on the leash when close to other animals and who tends to climb up on her friends (she has never been to puppy school). For the right owner (patient, loving, active), Luna will be an ideal pet."
