My Story
Luke's breeder decided that mixing a Pug with an Aussie would be an awesome mix. We are still shaking our heads about this decision. You mix the working ethics of an Aussie with the lack of bite inhibition and brains of a pug, and you have a not so easy dog to handle. Then this cute little puppy was bought by a family with young children, and he was quickly running the house. Cute and slightly devilish Luke, got the boot, and spent quite a bit of time in foster care between Zen Dogs Daycare, and Wendy and Chung's house. In between a couple of failed foster-to-adopts (well-meaning folks who couldn't handle all that was Luke) Wendy and Chung had started to fall in-love with Luke. He has definately added an element of chaos to their mellow house with their 2 older dogs, but hey that's what you get when you add a gremlin to your house! He has now completed a basic obedience class, and will soon be starting agiltiy, a sport that Luke Skywalker will no doubt excell at. Congrats to Luke for grabbing on to Wendy and Chung and refusing to let go! You knew a good home when you landed in it.
Luke is not for the faint of heart, but he is an amazing dog in the right hands. He is full of charisma and charm. He aims to please, but if given an inch he can be a huge brat. He likes to think of himself as overly protective of the house, as well as having the need to herd pesky things like bikes, and joggers. For some reason people just don't appreciate ankle biters. You see when Luke was bored he created his own fun games- he needs a job to do! With clear boundaries he is a gem. Yes Luke is very cute, but unless you have herding breed experience, have a plan for his energy, and can dole out clear boundaries along with the love, Luke is not the match for you.
Luke is proving himself to be such a warm and loving little man!! He loooves to cuddle, and has taken to being my constant shadow, just following me everywhere. He is doing very well with all the dogs, the cats, but does best in a home with out children. He's not big on sharing his bones with other dogs, but can be coerced to reluctantly by the right dog! Luke has a protective streak that needs to be kept in check by his family- he needs to know that people protect him and not the other way around. He has a very good sit, and is learning a reliable recall, at the moment it's half and half but he will always come back.... eventually! LOL! He walks very well on leash once the excitement of being out for a walk calms down. He has a nice heal, and is fully house trained. He loves to swim at the beach, and play chase the stick or just make new friends!
He has learnt that getting overly excited and nipping fingers gets him no where, so he hasn't done it in weeks, and I can do anything to him at all now.
He will need a home where he will receive allot of activity and attention, he is the greatest companion and should be treated as such. But all in all the Luke package is wonderful! No issues, just a big need for love and to give love..... and what more can you ask for! LOL!
