My Story

Luke is a purebred Bernese Mt Dog, just one year old. We had thought of naming him "Phantom of the Opera:" or perhaps "Jester" based on his extremely strking markings!! ~~ Handsome and sturdy, about 26" tall and 90-95 lbs. Can be a little shy of men he doesnt know, but Luke is verrry affectionate and playful with women and familiar people. Has lots of energy, is active and healthy! Very affectionate He is definitely not a slug!! Still has "a lot of puppy" in him. Would not do well in a home where he was left alone 8hrs a day. Too large and energetic to go to a home with children under age 7-8, as he could accidently knock them over in his great enthusiasm for life. ~~ Will need an owner who has the time and energy to spend loving him, exercising him, and training this fantastic boy. ~~ Making good progress on house training. Is crate trained. Walks well on a leash. Knows sit and down. ~~ Gets along fine with other dogs. ~~ Was originially purchased from a notorious BMD puppy mill "breeder" in Arcadia OH, then just kept by his owners outside w/ another dog. And then one yr later surrendered to the shelter......... I guess the novelty of having puppies had worn off for them. :-( Some people are hard to understand. *** NOTE: We always require a securely fenced yard for all dog adoptions, especially young dogs of large active breeds like the Bernese. And of course NEVER those nasty shock collar "invisible fencing systems."
