My Story

Luke is a 10 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He's such a sweetie who wants to start every morning with mommy hugs and love! He may have applications in progress, but is currently available. Luke needs an owner who wants to be a part of a true doggy transformation. He will look at you with his thankful, loving eyes every time you go to his crate. Because he was an outdoor dog, he was unsure about this idea of being an indoor pet at first. He's been with his foster family for four months and loves their pets and scratches. He was skittish with new noises and people, but has learned that visitors come and go and he is warming up to strangers now. He does not have a mean or aggressive bone in his body and gets along well with two resident chihuahua/terrier mixes and kids. He sleeps quietly in his crate through the night. He has been a trooper through some medical issues and the vet says he is clear of most of those and he has finished his heartworm treatments and is off of crate rest. Luke is making progress with house training, but will have an occasional accident. This seems to be linked to if he gets scared or nervous. He does well with wearing a belly band if needed. Now that he is off of crate rest, he loves getting more pets and scratches and learning about being a part of a family. He listens and responds to when his name is called. Although he loves pets and scratches, he doesn't usually sit long on laps or the couch. Now that he is out of his crate, he likes to prance around to explore the house. He will make a good family pet as he gets along with kids and other dogs. Adoption fee is $200.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only. STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application.
